Tim Scoons
Conservation Consultant & Supporter
I’ve always had a strong connection to Nature and I believe in its power to re-balance the human spirit and re-connect us to what’s really important in life. I’m also passionate about the need to protect and re-wild Nature and I’ve dedicated my whole life to environmentalism, wildlife conservation and permaculture.
A naturalist since I can remember, I grew up in rural Dorset. I was heavily influenced by my late mother, who was an extraordinary gardener – a passion I have continued with my wildlife garden and two allotments in Bristol, both of which I’ve lovingly managed in organic permaculture for over 20 years.

From the age of six I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to conservation, so I trained as a biologist and worked on conservation projects throughout my youth. I then spent 25 years making BAFTA and Emmy award-winning wildlife television and digital media, including 15 years as an Executive Producer at the world-renowned BBC Natural History Unit, where I created and led the BBC’s much-loved Springwatch – a unique and innovative brand dedicated to connecting the British public to the Nature on their doorsteps.
Three years ago, I left the BBC and returned to front line conservation, where I now advise environmental organisations on media, campaigns and public engagement.
